Northwest Neurology Image

Northwest Neurology

Northwest Neurology was founded in 1983. Over the last 25 years Northwest Neurology has grown from a single physician in solo practice to one of the largest private practice neurology groups in the Chicago area. The group has expanded to include 8 neurologists and a certified nurse practitioner.

Each physician in their practice maintains interest and expertise in all areas of neurology, and has additional subspecialty interests. They have office locations in Arlington Heights, Hoffman Estates, and a recently expanded, new office in Lake Barrington.

The physicians and staff of Northwest Neurology, Ltd., strive to provide the highest quality of care for their patients. They believe in compassion and professionalism, and are dedicated to the patients they serve. They are committed to the community in which we practice and this shows by the investment they made into redesigning their website to provide up to date information for their patients to have access to so that their visit can be as seamless and comfortable as possible.

Neopolitan Lighthouse Image

Neopolitan Lighthouse

Neopolitan Lighthouse, a free program to shelter, encourage, educate and emotionally support women victims of domestic violence and their children. In a warm, homelike environment, Neopolitan Lighthouse offers support and skills to cope with domestic violence.

Neopolitan Lighthouse is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment of abused women and children. The shelter is a response to the dramatic need of services for women and children who are victims/survivors of domestic violence. Neopolitan Lighthouse was established in 1984 by a group of professional women who recognized the need for these services on the Westside of Chicago.

Neopolitan Lighthouse has successfully developed and implemented onsite and outreach programs for survivors of domestic violence. In 1996, Neopolitan Lighthouse began collaborating with the Chicago Department of Public Health to implement the Medical Advocacy Program which targets Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) clients who may also be in need of domestic violence services.

Neopolitan Lighthouse continues to work with the criminal justice system, medical community and social service sector to offer advocacy and options to survivors of domestic violence and their children. They are dedicated to expanding their services to offer as much help as possible to end domestic violence in Chicago.

The shelter was in need of a major website makeover. Their site was dated and has not really been updated with the latest information. They needed a site that was contemporary but informative with the required and important information a women in need can get access to easily. They need to provide the necessary information a visitor would need quickly and efficiently.

The Wounded Soldier Fundraiser Image

The Wounded Soldier Fundraiser

The Wounded Soldier Fundraiser was started by Vietnam War veteran, Ed Huss. In 2005 Ed decided he wanted to do something to help one of our wounded soldiers so he organized a golf outing fundraiser to benefit a soldier from the same unit he served with in Vietnam. The money raised in 2005 went to help Kyle Burleson, who was paralyzed from the neck down, get a new special needs home.

The next year the proceeds went to Latseen Benson who lost both his legs in Iraq. In 2007 we decided to go with a local guy. The money raised from last year's fundraiser paid the down-payment on a house for Victor Rojas who was injured when his Humvee was hit by multiple RPGs.

The mission of The Wounded Soldier Fundraiser, an NP 501 (c)(3) organization, is to help make a difference in the lives of our wounded American Heroes by providing funding and positive support during the service member's transition back into the civilian community following a life changing injury.

They will do this by working with the community to contribute dollars, facilitate and promote awareness and provide for the special needs of wounded men and women of the Armed Services to the enrichment of all.

Dios Design was 'Called to Duty' sort of speak to help this wonderful, patriotic organization provide detailed information on our soldiers who have sacrificed so much for this country. Their previous website was in great need of a design and content overhaul. Their financial goal was to raise $30,000 dollars for two soldiers in 2008 through individual donations and a golf outing. With marketing, speaking, website promotion, good old fashioned hard work, The Wounded Soldier Fundraiser was able to raise $50,000 for the soldiers and their families!

This project was a blessing for us to work on and will continue to be as we partner with them to help take care of those who are protecting our country!

Smiles For Sophie Forever

In February of 2007 Sophie Elizabeth Quayle, at age three, was diagnosed with a diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) - a cancerous brain tumor. This type of tumor is located in the brainstem, at the base of the brain. Affecting primarily children, it is the rarest and worst of pediatric brain tumors. Approximately 150 to 200 children are diagnosed each year. This type of tumor is considered terminal, and survival time is typically nine to twelve months following diagnosis.

Sophie's parents, Marc and Emily Quayle of Avon Lake, felt an overwhelming sense of helplessness when learning there was nothing the doctors could do to save Sophie's precious life. Sophie passed away October 6, 2007, just seven and a half months after diagnosis.

This great despair and frustration lead Marc and Emily on a mission to help children and families suffering from DIPG, while raising awareness and money that will lead to a cure for this awful disease and other types of pediatric brain cancer.

In March of this year, my sister in-law Donna Ferchill was contacted by Emily Quayle for some advice with starting a non-profit and building a website. Donna had asked me to contact Emily to help her start a new website and shortly after our initial conversation the SmilesForSophieForever.org website was underway.

I was truly blessed to help the Quayle family put this website together in the memory of their precious daughter Sophie. It’s been great to see all they were doing within a few months of starting their non-for profit. They are a blessing to so many as a result of their loss and it’s great to see people like them overcome such pain to do so much for others.

Please read more about this wonderful foundation by visiting www.SmilesForSophieForever.org and also consider making a donation towards the fight against Pediatric Brain Tumors.
